Members of the Friends 2018

Chair: Pru McCarney has two little girls at Redhill and works in transformation & project services for a local Telford company. New in her role as Chair in 2016 Pru said, “I became a friend so I can have fun with my little girls at school under the disguise of raising money! I love that I get to see them both at the school events with their friends in their own environment. It gives me a great feeling knowing that I’m helping to create a fabulous school for both my children and all the other children who are at Redhill now and in the future”.

Vice Chair: Wendy Ford has been involved with ‘The Friends of Redhill’ since her little boy, now in year 2, started in reception class. Group Hotels Director for the Southwater Event Group and GM at the Holiday Inn, Telford, Wendy loves being behind the scenes and enjoys meeting new moms. She said, “I love the fact that my little boy can enjoy the additional resources like the iPads, whiteboards and subsidised school trips from the money we help to raise. I get a lot of satisfaction knowing that as a group of moms and dads we make a difference in the school".

Secretary: Amy Jones joined the friends when her little boy Fynn was in reception class, she said, “I wanted to give a little back to the school, become involved in Fynn's activities and actually get to see him enjoying events and the resources that our fundraising can obtain.

Treasurer: Sue Wright is enjoying her second year as a member of Friends.Sue, who works for Telford & Wrekin Council said, “I have two children at the school and I love being able to help raise money to provide those little extras. It’s great to be at events with my children and watch them dance at the discos and have fun at our Christmas and summer fayres, it makes it all worthwhile”!

PR Officer: Sarah Thompson is a professional PR consultant, journalist and mom of twins. Sarah joins the team for the first time with her 6 year old twins currently in Year 2. Bringing over 25 years of experience in PR, comms and events, Sarah has worked for a number of clients including Goodyear Tyres, Arena Leisure, Capgemini and Manchester United Football Club. She said, “I hope my experience will help raise the profile of The Friends, the fundraising work we do and the events we organise to both internal and external audiences. I’m looking to work with local companies to see how we can benefit from their community schemes and I’m really looking forward to working with a great bunch of parents to help raise funds for extra school resources”! Sarah takes care of social media campaigns with Facebook and Twitter and is responsible for The Friends content in the school’s Mail On Friday.
