School staff constantly monitor all children’s progress. If a child is identified as ‘cause for concern’ Mrs Rock, the School Special Educational Needs Coordinator works closely with all the staff involved. Those children with on-going concerns may be referred to the appropriate agency with the permission of parents. For example speech therapy, occupational therapy and learning support.
Where children have additional needs they will be supported in accessing the full curriculum. Individual risk assessments and or behaviour plans are carried out where appropriate to ensure the safety of children with additional needs. If concerns still remain despite significant school based intervention involving the implementation of advice from outside agencies such as Educational psychologist, Speech therapists, etc school will request statutory assessment by the local authority.
